Andrew heads our competition and disputes practice. He is a highly-skilled litigator and regulatory lawyer with over 30 years’ experience representing corporate and government clients.

Andrew specialises in competition and consumer law, corporate regulation and complex litigation.          

Throughout his long career, Andrew has acted for a wide range of clients in diverse industries. He regularly represents the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) in some of their most important cases. Andrew also represents businesses and company directors in dealings with the ACCC and ASIC, including in defending court proceedings and in civil and criminal prosecutions. He has extensive merger clearance, authorisation, adjudication, mediation and arbitration experience.

Over the years, Andrew has conducted several representative actions and class action defences and was named Best Lawyers “Class Action Lawyer of the Year”.

As an experienced adviser with significant general experience, Andrew also advises non-executive directors, law firms and other professional service firms, and private companies on complex legal issues, helping them solve issues, complete important assignments and resolve disputes with complete discretion and experienced judgement. He is regularly engaged as an independent legal adviser and works alongside company lawyers to provide assistance to executives and employees.

Before joining Webb Henderson as the founder and senior partner of the firm’s competition and disputes practice, Andrew was the national practice manager of disputes and competition law of one of the world’s largest law firms.

Andrew holds an LLM from Sydney University and B.Juris and LLB degrees from the University of New South Wales. He also lectured in competition and trade practices law and insurance law at UNSW for several years and has represented the ACCC as a non-government advisor in ICN activities. He is the Asian Section Editor of the Australian Journal of Competition and Consumer law; a contributing editor of the LexisNexis Practical Guide to Competition Law; a widely published commentator; and a member of the Advertising Standards Industry Jury. Andrew is also a board member of not-for-profit community and sporting organisations.
