Mary is a commercial and regulatory lawyer in the Sydney office of Webb Henderson.  Her focus is on the telecommunications, media and technology sector and she has a special interest in data privacy.

Mary recently joined Webb Henderson from the London office of Latham & Watkins, one of the world’s top-ranking firms. Mary was with Latham & Watkins for over 10 years. Initially a technology transactions associate, she was subsequently appointed as the firm’s first Global Data Protection Officer.

Her practice focuses on outsourcing, technology transactions and data privacy. Her representative matters include: advising a leading UK retail bank to consolidate and re-tender all voice and network requirements in the UK and internationally; advising a major UK retailer on the outsourcing of its distributed computing environment; developing global terms of trade for a world leading oil and storage company spanning 40 countries; and advising on commercial and IT aspects of the multi-million dollar sale of a UK ground transportation company to a US based private equity fund.

As Global Data Protection Officer, Mary set strategy, assessed and mitigated privacy risks and led a global organisation (with revenue in excess of USD 3 billion) in its compliance across a matrix of global privacy laws, including its implementation of GDPR compliance measures.

Mary was first admitted to practice in New Zealand in 2006. She is admitted in practice in England and Wales and is currently pursuing her New South Wales admission.
